Working with life force energy
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese word consisting of two characters; “Rei” and “Ki”. Rei – is Japanese for spiritual or sacred. Rei represents the Spirit, Mystery, Gift, Nature Spirit or Invisible Spirit. Ki – is Japanese for energy. Ki represents the Physical Energy of Nature, Talent or Feelings.
Reiki literally translates as Spiritual Energy and is the energy is from Source to Self, aligning both Physical and Spiritual bodies and planes. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing which taps into that pure source of Divine energy to be used for healing.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, so there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. Kenji Hamamoto states that “Reiki is a life-enhancing art. For those suffering from illness, it is a means of returning to health. For the healthy it is a means of refining mind, emotions and body; calming the soul, clarifying the thought-processes and powers of perception; assisting suppressed creativity to awaken and blossom; and of revealing glimpses of our essential nature.
With Reiki we can free up trapped emotions. With Reiki we can dissolve and transform through the patterns of these freed emotions – transmuting them, giving them new patterns – new forms of expression…”
The Value of Reiki
The great value of Reiki is that because it is guided by the Higher Intelligence, it knows exactly where to go and how to respond to restrictions in the flow of Ki. It can work directly in the unconscious parts of the mind/body, which contain negative Ki-inhibiting thoughts and feelings and eliminate them.
As Reiki flows through a sick or unhealthy area, it breaks up and washes away any negative thoughts or feelings lodged in the unconscious mind/body thus allowing a normal healthy flow of Ki to resume.
As this happens, the unhealthy physical organs and tissues become properly nourished with Ki and begin functioning in a balanced healthy way thus replacing illness with health.
Western medicine continues to look at and examine alternative methods of healing; the non-invasive practice of Reiki is growing in acceptance as a valued healing practice.
Potential Health Benefits of Reiki
When the flow of the “Life Force Energy” is disrupted, weakened, or blocked, emotional or health problems tend to occur.
Imbalances can be caused by many situations occurring in our lives, such as: emotional or physical trauma, injury, negative thoughts and feelings, including fear, worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, negative self-talk, toxicity, nutritional depletion, destructive lifestyle and relationships, neglect of self and lack of love for oneself or others, from emotions that are not expressed in a healthy way…
Reiki has many health benefits. One of the greatest healing health benefits of Reiki is stress reduction, as well as relaxation. These together trigger the body’s natural healing abilities by activating the immune system. Reiki is also known to aid in better sleep while improving and maintaining overall health.
Reiki works on all levels. Spiritual, Mental, and Physical. Reiki helps bring about inner peace and harmony. It can be a valuable tool in the quest for spiritual and personal growth.
Healing versus Curing
‘Healing’ and ‘curing’ are different things!
There have been times when one Reiki session has eliminated a client’s long-term back pain. Other clients instead receive the spiritual, mental, and emotional tools to better manage their physical condition. What determines whether a client is ‘cured’ or not is Spirit. Sometimes a person is learning soul lessons from their physical illness, and it’s not meant to be ‘cured’, with our excellent medical technology or with energy healing! Although we can ask for a particular result from the sessions, it’s then best left in the hands of Spirit… Reiki, life force energy, will flow where it is needed most.
If a healer tells you they can cure your dis-ease, a word of caution: If your spiritual, mental, and emotional bodies aren’t cleared of the root of the problem, it will LIKELY recur, either as the same condition, or something else in your body. Be aware of those who promise specific results. Allow Reiki to go where it is needed most.
Balance Brings About Healing
“Everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room, every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.” – Proverb from India
We have four bodies that makeup who we are; Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual.
What affects any one of these bodies affects other three as well.
The Physical You (your body) – your tangible structure and the five senses that enable you to touch, see, hear, smell, and taste the world around you.
The Mental You (your thoughts) – knowledge, attitude, and beliefs. The analytical self.
The Emotional You (your feelings) – the range of emotions from fear and anger to love and joy.
The Spiritual You (your spirit) – relationship with oneself, creativity, and life purpose. Your relationship with a Higher Power.
Reiki works on all levels. Bringing the body into harmony, and balance. Working with your inner energy system, and aligning the flow so that your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self is working together for your higher good.

Important Note
Reiki is not a substitute or replacement for licensed medical care.
Healing and medicine are two very different disciplines. You should always remember to seek medical advice from a qualified doctor or practitioner in the case of serious illness or injury. Reiki is part of a holistic treatment plan. Reiki is not meant to take the place of standard medical or psychological treatment, but to accompany and work along with it.
